I’m Kayla VanderZiel, a beauty business consultant who helps salon and beauty entrepreneurs build the systems they need to grow with confidence. When I entered the beauty industry in 2010, I thought success came from working harder. So I did.

I spent years behind the chair, became a Director of Education just four years into my career, built training programs, and eventually launched my own bridal beauty business while still working full-time. For two years, I worked long days and even longer nights until I finally grew my business enough to take the leap on my own. Along the way, I realized something surprising. As much as I loved serving clients, I found even more joy in building the business behind the service.

I was the person creating systems, improving workflows, mentoring other beauty professionals, and helping friends organize the parts of their businesses that often felt overwhelming. I wasn’t doing it because someone hired me—I was doing it because I genuinely loved helping people succeed.

Like every business owner, my journey wasn’t perfect. I made mistakes, trusted the wrong people, experienced setbacks, and had to rebuild more than once. But every challenge taught me something that no course or business book ever could. It taught me how to build stronger systems, become a better leader, and create businesses that didn’t rely on one person carrying all the weight.

My passion for beauty eventually led me into the medical aesthetics industry, where I managed teams, improved operations, developed Standard Operation Procedures, and redesigned client journeys to create better experiences for both clients and staff. The work was rewarding, but after several years I realized something important. No matter what role I was in, the work that energized me was always the same: helping businesses run better and helping the people behind them feel more supported.

That’s why I created Ziel Consulting. It’s built on years of experience, mistakes, lessons, late nights, growth, and real businesses. I’ve experienced the excitement of building something from the ground up, the overwhelm that comes with growth, and the challenges that every business owner faces along the way.

Today, I help beauty business owners create organized systems, exceptional client experiences, and businesses that feel easier to run, so they can spend less time putting out fires and more time doing what they love. Because at the end of the day, I’ve realized my favorite part was never just building businesses. It was helping the people behind them believe they could build something extraordinary.
